Christian Counselling in Edmonton

Healing happens.

Being of a faith background myself, I work a lot with Christian clients who are looking for a nonjudgmental and safe therapist. Some of my clients need support navigating hard seasons, while others have a focus on healing through past trauma.

Specifically though, I am passionate about working with young adults and helping them navigate life and past experiences. I also enjoy working with the disenfranchised: with those both in and out of vocational ministry, and with those both plugged into a church and currently not attending. Many of my clients are individuals in ministry trying to find healthy work-life balance. I also work with pastors or individuals who grew up with parents who were pastors.

Whether you simply appreciate having a therapist with a Christian background, or want a therapist who can partner with you in prayer, I can support you through the challenges of life and help you find healing. I work a lot with individuals struggling with their faith amidst tough challenges in life and unfair, painful circumstances. Much of my role is helping clients reconcile faith and healing while existing in a broken world.

A Combined Approach

Although I believe in the effectiveness in research- and evidence-based interventions such as EMDR, I also wholeheartedly believe in the power of prayer and an intimate relationship with God. As an active member of my church community, I have witnessed how prayer can be instrumental in transforming a person’s life; however, I will never write off issues as being purely spiritual in nature. We often need to also actively make important (and sometimes big) changes in life to find peace and healing.

On the other hand, some of my clients do not want to include prayer in their sessions, just needing someone who understands “what it’s like” to have a Christian background. These clients can also find healing, with a focus on tools and trauma interventions such as EMDR.

In the context of Christian counselling, I employ psychological insights, concepts, and interventions that agree with scriptural principles; furthermore, I have also completed training in the area of Christian inner healing through a local ministry. Past clients have appreciated my non-judgmental and warm nature that combines a trauma-informed and a faith perspective. In addition to issues like anxiety, depression, and trauma, we can also explore blockages such as shame, unforgiveness, comparison, performance orientation, anger, spiritual disconnection, and low self-worth.
